In 1954/55 Marshall Field & Co advertised the Regency TR-1 as the worlds first pocket radio; it wasn’t. There were several tube portables that operated on earphone only and predated the TR-1 by up to 10 years. The TR-1 was of course the worlds first transistor radio.
